Do you know the principle of finger pulse oximetry ?

We all know that hemoglobin's job is to carry oxygen to all parts of the body. We call the amount of oxygen in hemoglobin at any given moment oxygen saturation. That's what the finger oximeter measures. Hemoglobin has an oxygen-carrying state and, of course, an empty state. The oxygen-carrying hemoglobin is called oxygenated hemoglobin and the empty state is called reduced hemoglobin.

Oxygenated hemoglobin and reduced hemoglobin have different absorption properties in the visible and near-infrared spectrum. Reduced hemoglobin absorbs more red frequency light and less infrared frequency light; Oxygenated hemoglobin absorbs less red frequency light and more infrared frequency light. This distinction is the most basic basis for finger oximetry.

After a series of calculations, the finger oximeter displays oxygen saturation data on the display screen.
