Shanghai Health Commission Launches Mental Health Support Campaign for Adolescents
Shanghai, China – In an effort to promote positive mental health among adolescent populations, the Shanghai Health Commission has launched a new campaign to provide support and resources to those in need.
The campaign, entitled "Care for Youth, Support for Mental Health", aims to address the growing incidence of mental health issues among young people in the city. Recent studies have shown that up to 1 in 4 adolescents in Shanghai suffer from some form of mental health problem, including depression, anxiety, and stress.
To combat this trend, the commission has partnered with local schools and mental health organizations to provide a range of services aimed at improving mental well-being. These include counseling and therapy sessions, peer support groups, and educational workshops on managing stress, building resilience, and promoting healthy habits.
"We recognize that mental health is a critical component of overall health and well-being," said Dr. Liu Yumei, director of the Shanghai Health Commission. "We are committed to providing young people with the support and resources they need to cope with the challenges of adolescence and thrive in their academic and personal lives."
The campaign will also feature a series of public awareness initiatives, including social media campaigns, community events, and cultural activities designed to promote positive mental health messages and reduce the stigma surrounding mental health issues.
In addition, the commission has pledged to increase funding for mental health programs and research, with a focus on developing new interventions and approaches to tackle mental health problems among young people.
"We believe that every young person deserves the opportunity to live a healthy, fulfilling life," Dr. Liu said. "By working together, we can help create a brighter future for our youth and build a healthier, more resilient society for all."
