Daily maintenance of ECG monitor!

Patient Monitor

ECG monitor is an automatic and intelligent instrument, which is mainly used to monitor the physical parameters of patients and plays an important role in ensuring the life safety of critically ill patients. The ECG monitor is also the electronic equipment used in the department and the largest number in the hospital. Medical staff should pay attention to daily use, maintenance and disinfection to make the machine reach the best working condition.

Precautions:

01. Dustproof

Various optical components in the instrument, some switches, electric shock, etc., should be kept clean frequently. In addition, since the NBP cuff is tied to the patient for a long time, it needs to be cleaned regularly to remove the odor on the cuff, especially for some patients with bleeding and vomiting.

02. Moisture-proof

The optoelectronic components and electronic components in the instrument are prone to mildew and damage after being affected by moisture. Therefore, it is necessary to start the machine regularly to check and replace the desiccant in time. This is actually the same as household appliances at home. When not in use for a long time, it should be powered on regularly to drive off moisture and achieve the purpose of moisture-proof. During the Huangmei season, the weather is the wettest, so you should pay more attention.

03, heat protection

High-precision electronic instruments are relatively delicate, and a temperature that is too high or too low will affect its normal operation. Monitors generally require appropriate working and storage environments and small temperature fluctuations, so it is generally best to configure a temperature regulator. Usually, it is most suitable to keep the temperature at 20℃~25℃. In addition, it is required to keep away from heat sources such as infrared therapy equipment, and avoid direct sunlight.

04. Anti-vibration

Vibration will not only affect the performance and measurement results of the monitor, but also cause damage to some precision components, so it is required to place the instrument on a workbench or vibration-damping table away from the vibration source.

05. Anti-corrosion

During the use and storage of the instrument, avoid contact with the environment with corrosive gases and liquids such as acid and alkali, so as to prevent the components from being damaged by erosion.

Check before use

♥The environment and power supply meet the requirements.

♥The case of the monitor is clean and free of smudges.

♥The shell, buttons, knobs, interfaces and accessories have no mechanical damage.

♥The power cord has no abrasion and good insulation performance.

♥The ground wire is connected correctly.

♥ Use only specified accessories such as electrodes, sensors and probes.

♥ The clock of the monitor is correct.

♥ Sound alarm and light alarm function normally.

♥ The recorder works normally and the recording paper meets the specified requirements.

♥ Check the performance of the battery.

♥Various monitoring functions of the system are in good working condition.

clean and disinfect

01. Cleaning steps:

Turn off the monitor and disconnect the AC power → Clean the outside of the main unit → Clean the display screen → Clean the cables and sensors → Wipe the cleaned part with a dry cloth or air dry → If there is contamination by patient secretions, use chlorine Wipe with disinfectant, then wipe with water to dry → place the device in a ventilated and cool environment to air dry.

02. External cleaning method of the host:

A clean, soft cloth, sponge or cotton ball should be used to absorb non-aggressive cleaning agents, wring properly and wipe gently. Optional cleaning agents: Diluted soapy water, diluted ammonia, sodium hypochlorite (bleaching powder for washing), or formaldehyde (35~37%), hydrogen peroxide (3%), 70% ethanol, 70% isopropanol. Wipe dry with a clean dry cloth.

03. Display cleaning method:

Wipe with 75% alcohol cotton balls weekly. Wipe the display with 10% bleach or dilute soapy water. Wipe dry with a clean dry cloth.

04. How to clean the cable:

♥Please wipe the outer surface of the cable with 75% alcohol, be careful not to let the liquid flow into the cable connector. Also do not immerse in liquids.

♥ If there is any residue such as tape on the wire, it should be wiped with tape remover and then disinfected.

♥ Air dry or clean with a clean, dry cloth.

♥The wires that are too long can be bent into larger circles and tied up and fixed for ease of use. Disposable parts must be discarded and not ready for reuse after washing.

♥During backup, each lead wire and connecting tube should be bundled and fixed separately, and placed in a plastic bag or cloth bag to keep it clean and tidy, so that it can be used again.

05. Cleaning method of blood oxygen probe:

♥ Remove the sensor from the patient and from the monitor.

♥Please wipe the sensor with 75% alcohol, then dry it with a dry cloth. (It can also be used to clean the light-emitting and receiving parts.) Be careful not to let liquid flow into the cable socket. Also do not immerse in liquids.

♥ Clean the rest of the same cable.

06. Cleaning method of cuff:

♥The cuff cannot be dry cleaned, but it can be machine washed or hand washed, and hand washing can prolong the life of use. Before washing, the rubber bag should be removed. After washing, wait for the sleeve to dry before repacking the rubber bag.

♥The sleeve can be sterilized by conventional methods, such as: autoclaving, gas or radiation sterilization, sterilization by immersion in decontamination solution. (Now replace the cuff twice a week and send it to the supply room for disinfection).

♥(For special infection treatment) Soak the cuff in 0.5g/L chlorine-containing disinfectant (or 75% alcohol) for 30 minutes, then rinse it with clean water and dry it in the air for later use.

maintenance

♥The monitor should be placed in a ventilated and dry place.

♥Connect the purification power supply to maintain the voltage (220±22)V, reduce the use with high-power electrical appliances.

♥ Before cleaning and sterilizing the monitor, turn off the monitor and disconnect the AC power supply at the same time.

♥ When arranging accessories, do not fold the lines, but wrap them in a circle to avoid breaking.

♥Do not perform high temperature, high pressure and immersion disinfection on the ECG monitor and accessories, and avoid contact with corrosive gases and liquids such as acid and alkali. Never immerse any part of the system in liquid. If liquid is accidentally spilled on the monitor, it should be wiped with a dry cloth immediately. Do not let liquid flow into the monitor. Personnel overhaul.

♥Avoid frequent switching on and off of the instrument. When the patient only suspends the instrument for a long time, just remove the monitoring electrode buckle, and it is not necessary to turn off the instrument. If you see signs of deterioration or damage to the cable, replace the cable and do not use it for patient monitoring.

♥Be careful not to fold the hose connecting the cuff, it is easy to be damaged when folded for a long time.

♥ When the printed ECG bands are too light or inconsistent in shades, clean the surface of the print head with a cotton ball dipped in alcohol to remove the remaining paper scraps.

♥The staff wash their hands and trim their nails before operation, so as not to damage the touch buttons or the screen.

♥At least 5CM space should be reserved around the monitoring instrument in use to ensure the circulation of air and achieve good heat dissipation effect. The monitor in the standby state should be placed in a ventilated and dry place to avoid moisture, and should be charged regularly, usually once a week, and checked, cleaned and maintained; it should be kept by a special person.

♥ Regularly conduct stability tests on the monitoring indicators of the monitor and keep the qualified records.

♥When the monitor fails, you should contact the maintenance personnel in time for maintenance and keep the maintenance records.

♥Equipped with operating procedures and troubleshooting procedures for various types of monitors, which are convenient for medical staff to use.

♥Have records of monitor usage, maintenance, repair and disinfection.
