 1. Use filters during ventilation treatment

Bacterial germ filter: Bacterial germ filter must be used. They can protect the patient, surroundings and/or ventilator in both directions. It is recommended to use the following bacteria filter with our equipment:

Air filter membrane: Coarse filter membrane and fine filter membrane must be used. The filter membrane of the equipment must be replaced within the specified time interval. Please refer to the equipment manual for the specific interval period.

Please note: Bacterial germ filters must always be used.

  2. Ventilator configuration

To protect the surrounding environment from the aerosols exhaled by COVID-19 patients, we recommend using a non-ventilating mask and placing a bacterial filter in front of the leak/exhalation valve.

To ensure adequate oxygenation, every patient needs a pulse oximeter to monitor blood oxygenation. If possible, CO2 monitoring is recommended. Please refer to the further advice of the World Health Organization: "Clinical treatment of severe acute respiratory infection (SARI) when COVID-19 is suspected".

Please note: Do not place a bacteria filter between the patient interface and the humidifier water tank! Due to water-saturated filters (especially hydrophilic ones), the work of breathing may be greatly increased. The non-ventilated mask and the bacteria filter in front of the exhalation system will increase the dead space and exhalation resistance. It is recommended to continuously monitor the patient's blood oxygen and tidal volume.

  3. Cleaning and disinfection of ventilator and accessories

Use a soft cotton cloth and mild detergent to clean the ventilator housing, power cord and trolley. The following products are recommended for surface disinfection:

  • „terralin® protect

  • perform® advanced Alcohol EP

  • Mikrozid® LIQUID

  • Gigasept® FF (new)

Please pay special attention to the disinfection time and disinfection method recommended by the manufacturer of the disinfection product. Do not allow liquids to enter the equipment. Please dispose of all single-use items such as hose systems, connections and bacterial filters in accordance with the hospital's sanitary regulations.

Based on current understanding, Sars-Co-V-2 will not be infected again after a certain period of time. In the study, it was measured that the bacteria survived for a relatively long time of 9 days.

  4. Use of hose

If the ventilator is used by the same patient in the hospital, we recommend replacing the disposable hose system every 7 days.
