What are the differences between the three? How to choose?
1. Tooth machine
The machine usually consists of an X-ray generating device and its supporting parts, and is used with an in-mouth image receiver. It is used for X-ray photography of teeth to obtain images for clinical diagnosis. It is relatively simple, and generally can take two-dimensional images of 1 to 4 teeth at the same time, but the structure overlap is serious and the range is small.
2. Dental panorama
The dental panoramic machine usually consists of an X-ray generator, a slit aperture and an out-of-mouth image receiver. Relative motion between the X-ray generating device and the image receiver outside the mouth. Used for curved surface tomography of oral and maxillofacial region (including mandible, maxillary sinus, temporomandibular joint and teeth), it may have cranial lateral imaging function for clinical diagnosis, and plays an important role in oral professional examination and treatment.
However, because it is two-dimensional, it is impossible to observe three-dimensional structures, so occlusion and gaping between different structures can hardly be completely avoided. The size of the buccal lingual direction cannot be displayed, the root canal is omitted, and the buccal lingual direction of the root canal can not be judged, and may even lead to diagnostic errors.
3. Dental CBCT
Dental CBCT, also known as oral and maxillofacial cone beam CT, digital volumetric tomography, is used to display pathological tissues and normal tissue structures from a three-dimensional perspective, namely sagittal, coronal and axial positions, effectively avoiding the inherent defects of two-dimensional plain films. Such as normal tissue and organ image overlap, projection Angle changes caused by the image distortion, deformation and so on, greatly improve the diagnostic ability.
Dental CBCT can complete oral scan of patients in more than ten seconds, and then generate high-precision THREE-DIMENSIONAL image, which completely solves the problems of image overlap and distortion of traditional oral X-ray equipment such as dental X-ray machine and dental panoramic machine. It can observe the bone density of the gums, the height and width of alveolar bone in 360°, which can not only reconstruct the structure of the whole craniofacial region, measure the bone structure of the maxillofacial region, but also reconstruct the fine anatomical details.
